Matthew Eyet is a Partner at Sandelands Eyet LLP. His practice focuses primarily on representing clients in tax controversy matters before the Internal Revenue Service and state taxing authorities, as well as representing clients in litigation matters before federal and state courts in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. Matthew is admitted to practice in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, the United States Tax Court, the United States Northern, Southern, Western and Eastern Districts of New York, the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the United Stated District Court for the Middle, Eastern and Western Districts of Pennsylvania.
Prior to joining Sandelands Eyet, Matthew was a dual Associate of Hass & Hecht LLP and WeiserMazars LLP. As an Associate of both firms, Matthew represented taxpayers in federal and state controversy matters, including examinations/audits, administrative appeals, United States Tax Court litigation, federal voluntary disclosures, multistate voluntary disclosures, and collections matters. Matthew also represented employers in federal and state Department of Labor examinations/audits, administrative appeals, and worker classification matters. In addition, he provided consultation to clients on procedural tax issues, state tax planning, and estate planning, including will and trust drafting. Finally, he provided corporate services, including the formation, registration, and dissolution of entities, and also business planning and amendment to corporate governing documents.
Matthew earned his J.D. from Widener University School of Law, where he graduated first in his class, receiving the Valedictorian Award. He was a member of the Law Journal and Moot Court Honor Society. As a member of the Moot Court Honor Society, his team received the Best Brief Award at the Jerome Prince Evidence Competition at Brooklyn Law School. Subsequent to earning his J.D., Matthew earned his Masters of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation from New York University School of Law.
