Kathleen Cavanaugh is a Partner of Sandelands Eyet LLP. She has thirty years’ experience in handling complex litigation in the State and federal courts and at the trial and appellate levels. Kathleen is licensed to practice in New Jersey and the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. A primary focus of her practice is the representation of banks and consumer financial services companies in defense of claims brought under State and federal consumer protection statutes and regulations. Ms. Cavanaugh also has extensive experience in the representation of motor vehicle inventory lenders with respect to dealership loan default and sold out of trust issues, including negotiating forbearance and voluntary surrender agreements and litigating in New York and New Jersey State courts and in the Bankruptcy Courts of various districts.
Prior to entering private practice, Ms. Cavanaugh served as the judicial clerk to the Hon. Edward W. Beglin, Jr., Assignment Judge of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Law Division, Union County. In her community, she serves as a volunteer attorney representing domestic violence victims on behalf of Partners for Women and Justice and SAFE in Hunterdon County.
